Problem :

The International Cricket Council (ICC) required a structured e-commerce platform to support global merchandise sales during major tournament events. The platform needed to handle product launches tied to tournament timelines, maintain strict adherence to ICC brand guidelines, and support worldwide customer demand.

In addition to building the storefront, the ecosystem required coordination between merchandise distribution teams, warehouse fulfillment operations, marketing activities, and customer service functions.

Solution :

I designed and built the complete Shopify-based e-commerce ecosystem used for ICC tournament merchandise sales.

This included structuring the storefront architecture, creating product pages, organizing collections, and designing promotional banners, pop-ups, and promotional layouts aligned with ICC brand guidelines.

I also managed the operational setup required to support the platform. This included recruiting and coordinating a team responsible for customer service and product data entry, as well as hiring freelance photographers and graphic designers to produce product imagery and supporting marketing visuals.

On the operational side, I implemented the integration between Shopify and the fulfillment warehouse system, allowing inventory levels to synchronize automatically and ensuring that orders placed online could be processed and shipped efficiently.

I worked closely with the merchandise distribution team to coordinate product launches and align inventory availability with tournament marketing campaigns.

To expand distribution channels, I integrated Amazon Marketplace through Shopify, enabling product listings and inventory to be managed across both platforms within the same ecosystem.

In addition to the storefront and operational infrastructure, I designed marketing creatives used in email campaigns and social media advertising to promote tournament merchandise to global audiences.

Throughout the project, I served as the primary e-commerce contact for the ICC, coordinating directly with their team to ensure that the website, marketing initiatives, and merchandising efforts remained aligned with brand guidelines and tournament objectives.

Challenge :

The primary challenge was building a scalable e-commerce platform that could support global demand during major sporting events while coordinating multiple operational partners.

Tournament timelines required precise coordination between product manufacturing, inventory delivery, marketing campaigns, and website updates. Maintaining consistency with ICC brand standards while managing marketing initiatives and operational logistics required continuous communication and structured planning.

Additionally, the platform needed to remain flexible enough to support multiple tournament events using the same e-commerce infrastructure.

Summary :

The project resulted in the successful launch and operation of the official ICC tournament merchandise store for both the 2024 T20 World Cup and the 2025 Champions Trophy.

The Shopify ecosystem combined storefront design, warehouse fulfillment integration, Amazon marketplace distribution, and digital marketing initiatives into a centralized platform capable of supporting international merchandise sales during major sporting events.
